Why you shouldn’t be a vegetarian M
It is clear to me that most of the world’s population is turning vegetarian. I believe that no one should be a vegetarian. I am going to explain what important minerals/vitamins vegetarians miss out on because they don’t eat meat, why do people turn vegetarian in the first place and the different types of vegetarianism.
Minerals, vitamins scientifically they are different but to me they are the same because they all do the same thing keep your body healthy. If you are choosing to turn vegetarian the most important thing you can do is educate yourself. You should make an appropriately plan; you just can’t drop foods from your diet because you want to. Vegetarians need to be careful to include iron, calcium, protein, vitamin D, vitamin B12 and zinc. Iron is found in nuts, bread, cereals with oats, barley, grains and dried fruit. Girls need a lot of this because iron is lost during menstruation. Calcium is found in most dairy products. It is also found in Tofu, fortified soy milk; calcium fortified orange juice, green leafy vegetables and dried figs. Vegetarians may miss out on this because some don’t eat dairy products. Vitamin D helps your bones absorb calcium without this you would get weak bones. Your body makes vitamin D when your skin is exposed to sunlight. Cow’s milk is top on the list for food sources of this vitamin. Vegetarians can try fortified soy milk and fortified breakfast cereals. Everyone should have some exposure to the sun to help the body produce vitamin D. Protein is a great source of energy vegetarians need to include this in their diet. Current recommendations on http://www.kidshealth.org/ suggests that vegetarians should eat a wide variety of foods during the course of a day. Eggs and dairy products are a good sources of protein, but also try nuts, peanut butter, tofu, beans, seeds, soy milk, grains, cereals and vegetables to get all the protein your body needs. Vitamin B12 is found only in animal products. Zinc is in most dairy foods, if you are not eating dairy products you should eat fortified cereals, dried beans, nuts, and soy products. The aver age person probably spends one hour maybe two to buy their food from a supermarket. Add another one hour thirty minutes to that so you can read the health label on the back of all your food you just picked up to see if it has vitamins and protein. It is clear to me that not being a vegetarian you will save time to do things you want to do.
People are drawn to vegetarianism by all sorts of motives. Some of us want to live longer, healthier lives or do our part to reduce our carbon footprint and pollution. Others have made the switch because we’ve always loved animals and are just disgusted to eating them. Here are six ways why people turn vegetarian you’ll ward diease, you’ll keep your weight down, you’ll live longer, you’ll build strong bones, you’ll ease the symptoms of menopause and you’ll have more energy. I don’t see how just eating vegetables, dairy products and animal products can do all this you could still eat meat just eat more vegetables, dairy products and animal products as well as the meat and meat also has more minerals and vitamins. Lets just face it vegetables are boring I can see why little children won’t eat them, but a study carried out in Okinawa, Japan, have the longest life expectancy of any Japanese and likely the longest life expectancy of anyone in the would , according to a thirty year study of more than six hundred Okinawan centenarians. Their secret a low calorie diet of unrefined complex carbohydrates, fiber rich fruits and vegetables and also soy.
There are seven different types of vegetarianism they are lactoovo vegetarian, lacto vegetarian, ovo vegetarian, macrobiotic, veganism, semi vegetarians and pesci vegetarians . lactoovo vegetarians eat dairy products and eggs, but excludes meat, fish and poultry. Lacto vegetarians eat dairy products but not eggs, whereas an ovo vegetarian eats eggs but not dairy products. Some macrobiotic diets fall into the vegan catergory. Macrobiotic diets restrict not only animal products but also refined and processed foods, foods with preservatives, and foods that contain caffeine or other stimulants. Veganism is a stricter form of vegetarianism. Not only are eggs and diary products excluded from a vegan diet, so are animal products like honey and gelatin. Some people say they are semi vegetarians and eat fish and maybe a small amount of poultry as part of a diet that’s primarily made up of vegetables, fruits, grains, seeds and also nuts. A pesci vegetarian eats fish, but not poultry. I myself would never turn vegetarian because I like steak, fish, lamb and also chicken.
In our lives we all have to make choices that could effect us in the future. For some people one of these will be if they want to turn vegetarian or not. I see why people turn vegetarian but there is no point because your diet will be boring because you are going to be eating the same foods over and over again and because it will take up too much time planning what you are going to eat for your daily meals. If you turn or are vegetarian you will have to take vitamin suplements because the foods you are eating don’t have them or don’t have enough vitamins. There are good sides about being vegetarian and there are also bad sides. A bad side is there are too many catagories of vegetarianism. To me not being a vegetarian is more convenient and you will eat more exciting foods if your not vegetarian and you will save a lot of time.
