Omnivore Vs Vegetarian

Vegetarian, a good healthy diet, or just a foolish lifestyle?  Vegetarian is not a good a good choice because meat farmers will have fewer consumers, there are lower levels of essential nutrients and our bodies are designed for an omnivorous diet.  For these reasons we humans should be eating meat as well as vegetables and carbohydrates in our diet every day.

Imagine a drive through the country side without seeing a sheep or deer.  If people do not eat meat then farmers of these sorts of animals would disappear.  Being a vegetarian is not good for the farmers of these animals because they are earning no income and would therefore not bother farming.  If everyone is buying and eating vegetables and not meat what would happen to our farm land?  If we had fewer farmers then more people would live in the city and this could ruin our reputation of clean, green New Zealand.  Because of this vegetarianism is not a good way for us New Zealanders to eat and live.

Probably the most important reason why an omnivorous diet is how we should eat is because of the nutrients our bodies need that are not available in a vegetarian diet.  Iron, vitamin B12 and vitamin D are examples of what nutrients a vegetarian diet does not offer enough of.  If a vegetarian diet is what a person is eating then they are much more likely to have iron deficiency or low vitamin levels.  According to www.medic8.com/healthguide/articles/irondeficiency.html this can result in anaemia and an unhealthy looking and especially feeling body.  Therefore a diet that includes meat is better for us and is what humans need to be healthy.

Why would humans have teeth that are made for an omnivorous diet if a vegetarian diet is good for us? We have incisors, canines, pre-molars and molars which together are designed to chew meat and vegetables.  If we have teeth designed to eat and vegetables then our bodies must need to have a balanced diet in order to stay healthy.  This is why most people have a diet that is omnivorous.

As you can see the reasons for eating omnivorously shows us this is how humans should eat.  Farmers need consumers, we need the nutrients and our bodies are designed to eat omnivorously so that is what we should do.  So how will you decide to eat?
