The Arena of life where futures are made
“Bull riding” doesn’t deserve the danger-label that it seems to have. This sport is no more dangerous than sports such as rugby or netball, if they are preformed right. My argument is that if your body is fit and your gear is suitable and you are mentally prepared it won’t be as dangerous.
Fitness and diets are one of many parts to a bull riders life. Professional sports teams such as the All Blacks have a good nutritional diet so they can preform at a very high level. This is much like professional bull riders they have to eat the right food so they can work out and get bigger muscles and are a lot stronger. This is to reduce risk of injuries much like most sports. So yes this will prevent risk of injury and will make this sport a lot more safer. A bullrider has to be fit because this will allow him to manovour and ride the animal to a higher level. When a bullrider gets off or is bucked off a bull he has to run so fitness will help your speed when you try get away from the beaste. Much like the bull is fit because they get bucked out weekend after weekend and need to be agile, much like the rider.
Key part to being a proffessional bullrider and being safer at the same time is having the right gear. A bullrider has cowboy boots that have a heel on them so they can hold spurs on them. Spurs are a great piece of equipment as it means you can grip onto the animal without these your feet will slip out from under you, if this happens you are most likley going to be tossed over the bulls head. Some cowboys wear shin pads so their shins aint being injuried or rubbed against chute. Chaps are good as they protect your legs more and means your legs wont be rubbed as much and they let you have abit more grip to the animal. A protective vest is a vital piece as this will protect all your organs if you hit the ground hard or get a horn to your chest. A hat or helmet is optional but you have to wear one when you ride, if I was starting now I would use a helmet to protect your face. A mouth guard is optional but I would recommend it as it stops concusion. So its like proffessional athletes they all have correct gear to stop the risk of injury which means it wont be as dangerous.
Mental preperation is a great part of any sport as this will mean you can preform at a higher lavel. Belief is a real key part of sport because it makes you believe in yourself more and believe you can do it. This can make a big contrubution to how you preform as you will ride more animals and want be getting thrown off as much wich means less chance of injury. Such as rugby player you believe that you can do it as it makes your rugby that much funner and enjoyable as you are preforming at a high level on the field, this needs to be the same for bull riders in the arena of life.
As you can tell bullriding aint as dangerous as most people make out. There are rugby injuries and bull riding injuries which can be caused by similar things, so this means you have to be prepared for everything and be in the best form you can. So if you follow my theory this should help you to a life of success in the bullriding industry.
