MEAT VS VEGETARIAN
When you sit down at the table to eat a meal, should meat be dished up on your plate? Yes there should be. Meat is a very important aspect of your meal, although everybody is told that vegetables are the most important food for us, it is proven that meat is also just as significant. For a start, without meat, people’s iron levels would be lower, farmers would have less income and also to have a balanced diet there needs to be meat in it. For all these reasons everybody’s diet should consist of at least some meat.
Most of your body’s intake of iron is consumed through meat that you have eaten. There is lots of iron in meat compared to other foods; this means that without meat in your body, iron levels would be lower than needed to function. A piece of steak has 2.9 milligrams of iron in it compared with the same amount of tofu only having 2 milligrams. Therefore, to get the required amount of iron for your body everybody needs to have some form of meat in their diet.
Likewise, if lots of people all over the world turn vegetarian then farmers will have less income. At least 50% of the meat that farmers sell gets exported overseas. If some of these countries do not want it, there will be not enough demand which will put the price of meat such as lamb, beef, venison and poultry down. On the whole this vegetarianism will affect farmers in a bad way, as they will not get the money that is needed from their stock that is sold, to make a gain of them.
Additionally, to have a healthy and balanced diet there needs to be some meat involved in it somewhere. Meat has got high levels of protein, without the high levels of fat that some other high protein foods such as eggs and nuts have. The important protein that meat has in it helps to build up your upper body strength; rugby players consume high levels of protein as they need to be strong to tackle all game. A serving of venison has 34 grams of protein with only 6.5 grams of fat. Compared to other foods that has much less protein and a lot more fat in them. Meat is very good for you, for this reason, to get enough protein in your body to compete well in sports, people should eat meat.
To sum up, meat is a very important aspect of your meal. It is proven in many ways that to have some meat in your diet is healthy for you, if not consuming too much of it. Without meat peoples iron levels would be lower, farmers would have less income from their exports and to have a balanced diet there needs to be some meat in it. For all these reasons everybody’s diet should consist of at least some meat.
